DescriptionThe proponent, Mrs. Mercedes Ibarlin inherited the business from her mother. At an earlier age, she was already exposed in the weaving business and sells the products in Manila and to some of her friends who produces handicrafts using woven hyacinth and thread as raw materials. Learning the skills was a blessing for her family. Having gone through financial crisis, she was able to put food on the table and ably sent her children to schools. She freshly remembered it all as a rewarding experience. Her products had been known not only in the province but as well as in other places which caused her to eventually register her business at DTI. In 2006, she officially became part of the budding entrepreneurs that DTI helps in the promotion and marketing of products. She was nominated as Outstanding Micro Entrepreneur for 2009. A point in time came when the proponent realized the need to enhance the production and processing of woven water hyacinth and other indigenous material to become competitive. Hence, she sought DOST assistance.
